The fundamental principle for structuring URLs is to choose a format that is easy for users and search engines alike to understand. Website URLs should contain words and phrases arranged in a logical order and convey what the content is about before opening the page. A title tag tells both users and search engines what the topic of
a particular page is. The title tag should be placed within the
head tag of the HTML document. Ideally, you should create a
unique title for each page on your site. Efficient content organization enhances the message without interfering with the content’s purpose. It’s not easy to explain this in simple, concise terms. A good rule of thumb is to ask yourself if you want to change content “for SEO” or “for presentation”. If you are only thinking of the SEO benefit of the proposed change then it’s the wrong change. Web users want to see what the content (and therefore the title) is about without having to click on it. Allowing the readers to read the whole title in the search results will attract more qualified leads and customers to your site because they will know what they’re getting on the other side of the link rather than just quickly clicking to see what the rest of the title is about. Writing a good title tag should read more like a newspaper headline than a bunch or keywords, so keep it descriptive, but of course, still with keywords included. There are many different opinions on the ideal length of the title tag, but most agree that 110 characters should be the minimum.

Create individual pieces of content designed to target specific keywords
Most of the major search engines utilize an algorithm to determine where a website ranks. The criteria are different for every engine, but all engines share several commonalities. It all boils down to the type and amount of content provided on a given website, the level of optimization done on the site, and the popularity of the website (link popularity/PageRank). Most people browsing the internet will visit and leave pages in quick bursts. Many of them don’t convert while on your website. Some of them may visit while your product is out of stock. Others may just be in the “curious” stage and not ready to make a purchase yet. Even though it seems logical, initially, to strive for
a ranking using high-traffic keywords and terms,
this will most likely result in a lot of frustration and
wasted resources. Moreover, the traffic that you
will get from a highly competitive keyword, will
probably be of poor quality. Google uses what’s called Latent Semantic Indexing (LSI) when crawling a website, scanning your copy not just for the keyword
but for keywords that are commonly related to it.
